Pack 62 Sudbury general information for 2023-24 year:
Pack 62 Sudbury general information for 2023-24 year:
- Our first Pack meeting for the 2023-24 year is scheduled for Monday, Aug 28 at 6:30pm. Pack meetings will be held monthly on Mondays at St. Elizabeth's Episcopal Church. Our Cubmaster, Larry Wind, will lead these meetings. Each Pack meeting generally has a theme and includes activities for cubs and their parents.
- The Pack is made up of smaller groups called dens. Each den corresponds with a grade level (K-5), so cubs interact with cubs of similar age. Den meetings will be monthly as well, typically also on a Monday and also at the church, but den leaders will work with den families to find a schedule that works well for the den. Den leaders are trained parent volunteers who organize den activities.
- Pack activities include Pinewood Derby, Rocket Launch, Blue and Gold Banquet, and camping (typically one in fall and one in spring). Also the pack does museum visits and overnights (Ecotarium in Worcester this past year), hikes, community service projects, etc.
- Den activities depend on the requirements of the badge that den is working on, but usually focus on the outdoors, sports/games, learning about the community, membership in the family, etc. Each den meeting focuses on a particular adventure (requirement) for the rank badge, though a few requirements are done at home with a parent/guardian's help.
- All cubs complete their rank's required adventures throughout the year with their den. Belt loops for these adventures are awarded periodically throughout the year with the rank badge being awarded toward the end of the year once all required adventures have been completed.
- Resources for uniforms and books include the New England Scout Store in Southborough, the Maynard Outdoor Store (limited selection), and the Scout Shop online. The Pack plans to help families with some uniform requirements this year. We will provide more information at the first Pack meeting.
- National and Council dues are paid annually on the anniversary of the date you enroll. This year, national and council dues total $153. These dues are paid when you apply online at beascout.org.
- Pack dues will be collected by the pack itself once a year in the fall. This year they will be around $180.
- Please check the pack website, sudburypack62.org, for updates.
